David`s Bridal Truly Is Bad
I am not a happy bride when it came to visiting the Costa Mesa, CA and the Santa Ana, CA store and was VERY upset to find that after making an appt to view dresses and expect customer service when I arrived at the store, no one greeted me at all. As well, I waited well over an hour after my appt was made and other brides shopping in the store said Good Luck getting someone to even ask if you need help. Needless to say, I am passing the word in a wide network of what would have been potential customers to say that David`s Bridal does NOT employ corteous and attentive employees. NEVER would I want to shop there and a bride should feel like a PRINCESS, let alone at least a normal customer.

It amazes me none of these stories shock me, I have unfortunatley been in there store several time "by force" and every time I wait to see what will go wrong this time, here is a list of things gone wrong.
- alterations quote for time to complete "wrong
- pricing for alterations "wrong"
-rude emplyees..... Not just one...several
-managers and employees who do not take responsiblities for their actions
-commision driven mentality
- paper work trails that are often lost and forgoton
-the selling of your personal info with "NO PERMISSION"
-store policys that make absolutley no sense. I was told nothing can be put on hold....... Apparently they do not want a guaranteed sale.
Those are the ones that have happended to me, then there are there are the poor girls I have seen upset and cryng in the store because something went wrong again.
We need a new store, one where you can actaully shop.... Not this appointment crap, one that treats you like a human.... Not a wallet full of money.
If you are reading this and work at Davids please find a new one..... None of the employees I have met actually enjoy there job.

My daughter got her wedding gown at the David`s in Milpitas CA and was very happy with it and the people who worked there with her. It was on sale, fit well. Because she got it there, when she selected bridesmaids` dresses, she went there and got them for more discount--about 15%. They had to be ordered, arrived in good time, and looked fantastic on all 7 bridesmaids. Just thought that a positive experience should be shared.

I, like Beverly, had a positive experience at David`s Bridal. Money has been very limited for my wedding and being new to the Chicago area, I didn`t have a clue where to begin to afford a dress like the one my future step-daughters wanted me to have. I saw a commercial on tv concerning the $99 sale at David`s Bridal in Orland Park and called for an appointment. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were attended to immediately. The woman "assigned" to me was Anita and she stayed with us the entire time, helping me get into my choice of dresses and even brought us head pieces to look at that were also on sale. Thanks to Anita, I was able to purchase a beautifully fitting ivory wedding gown that needs no alterations, a tiara, a slip, and a veil for a total price of $168.00. I couldn`t be happier.
After reading the other experiences here that are nothing short of a nightmare, I feel very fortunate. I wish all of you could shop at the Orland Park store. Planning a wedding is stressful enough without having a shop make it even worse. ESPECIALLY when it relates to finding just the right dress. (No, I do not work for David`s Bridal - lol) If I had shopped at the other David`s locations, with these horror stories - I would have pitched a public fit!)

I have always had a great experience at David`s Bridal, and I have visited more than one location (all in the Chicagoland area). The employees are very helpful, and they try sincerely to stay within the budget that you set for them.

It must vary by city. The David`s in Philly is terrible too. They assigned me a woman that obviously hates her job. After explaining in detail what kind of gown I was looking for the first three dresses she brought to me were gowns with features I spefically told her I didn`t want.
After about the sixth time of this happening I grabbed a catalog and said, "I would like to try on these three gowns please.", of which they had only two. The third was from their collection series and they only have one sample and it floats among the stores. Even though I said I wasn`t wearing a veil she insisted on putting it on my head.( Elbow length) and every time I`d push it out the the way she`d circle around me and pull it forward again.
My stepmom asked if I was interested in looking for more dress, and the girl said she hoped not because it was hot in the dressing room. Keep in mind I only tried on 2 dress at this point.
I started looking for dresses again and found a third I might like to try and was talking to my mom about the floating dress and wondering if they could get it sent to our location to try on and the girl pushes past my mom and me in a huff. Startled I asked where she was going and she said "Obviously their is no point in looking for other dresses if you want that dress, so I am going to see if they will send it to the store."
I liked the third dress, but still wanted to try on my first choice ( the floating dress) . She tells me they can`t hold this dress until the other one comes in so if someone else buys it in the mean time oh well.
I must of phrased the quesiton several different ways it wasn`t until I was willing to walk away without the dress that she says, "Well you know if you buy the gown now you can exchange it if you like the other one better and just pay the difference."
I took a deep breath and decided to do that. Then while my moms and me gather up the dresses she starts telling me about this father who paid $1000.00 cash for his daughters dress the other day and gave her $100.00 tip. My step mom`s mouth dropped. It took everything in my will not to start laughing because first of all HOW RUDE secondly after the service she gave me she`d be lucky to get a $1.00 out of me let alone $100.00.
Icing on the cake. The other dress never made it there. And they sold my information to every vendor they had after I expressly asked them not to and Boy did they get a nasty letter from me after our wedding was over.
So your not alone.

I bought my dress at Davids Bridal in St. Peters MO and I had no problem at all. They were very helpful and patient with me and even honest. I understand that some stores probably have their problems but that doesnt mean that they are all bad. I do believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions though.

I completely agree with the disappointed ladies here. David`s Bridal is horrible. The one in North Attleborro, MA has dirty dresses. I tried on a dress that had halter style to it, well when I went to strap the straps to my neck I noticed that it was nearly black in color and that it had deodorant stains on it. Needless to say I took that dress off in nearly 3 seconds. The next dress I tried on was number 2752 which is now discontinued, well I bought it, it`s an organza dress. Well I tried it on loved it the whole 9, well the next day I break out into hives and didn`t realize where it could have been from, I went to look at some dresses with some other friend at another store well I showed them a few organza dresses that looked like mine, 20 minutes later I broke out into hives again, the same thing happend when I went with my MOH too look at dresses for her wedding well we went to the same david`s...needless to say I went and showed her some organza dresses and the last 2752 that they had there, well I went tried it on to show her what I was going to alter and what not as soon as I took the dress off my hands were turning red and breaking out into hives, well I still didn`t put 2+2 together. Until when I went home and started to put the pieces together with my fiance. He took me to the doctor and I had blood drawn the whole 9. A week later when the results are in it turns out I`m allergic to organza and few other things that I didn`t and never knew about. I then went to David`s to see if there was some way that I could have my money back given the extenuating circumstances. They were sooo rude to me, they basically told me how I could have known about the allergy and they basically called me a liar. Well I went to a lawyer, he basically broke down the policy to me saying that it`s a final sale and how all I could do is try to get another dress from them that wasn`t in organza. Yeah right like if I`m ever going to do business with that store. Any way this is causing so many problems for me, my fiance and I are close to breaking up because of this drama, because selling this dress has become my entire mission planning this wedding that might now even happen now. THANKS DAVID`S BRIDAL YOU RUINED MY LIFE MY WEDDING AND MY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE MAN I LOVE!

I have had a lot of dealings with David`s Bridal (both personally and friends of mine) and in ALL cases but one...David`s was HORRIBLE!
One case that stands out in my mind is that of a friend of mine. This was her second wedding and she wanted something a bit less formal than the typical wedding gown. She found a beautiful dress with a beaded bodice. They only had it in a size 8 (she`s a 4) and there was only 2 months til her wedding but they assured her they could alter the dress and it`d be perfect.
A month later (remember, only 1 month til her wedding) after several complications...she went in for her final fitting. The dress was a complete mess....it didn`t fit her correctly AT ALL and the beading had been ALL disshevled...it was a NIGHTMARE! She was of course totally upset. They informed her that they just couldn`t alter it any smaller and that the best they could do was simply give her her money back!
Imagine that....you have ONE MONTH til your wedding and NO DRESS!!!!! She was literally asounded!!!
They weren`t willing to accomodate her in any way...so she was forced to find a dress elsewhere...and luckily, by the grace of God, she did!
BEWARE!

I had a great experience with David`s Bridal in North Attleboro, MA. I liked the fact that I could try on gowns IN MY SIZE in the styles I liked instead of having to try on a size 10 like most specialty salons only stock. How can you spend so much money on a gown and have to "imagine" what it will look like in your true size? For this reason, I ended up with David`s Bridal. As for the service - they were great. I had a 2-1/2 year engagement and started looking early. The saleswoman knew I wasn`t going to buy right then and still was excellent. She followed up by phone at the intervals I asked her to. When my fiance and I went in looking for gowns we saw that they had a rep from a tux place too, so they took the time with us going over that as well. When I returned with my 4 bridesmaids, they all wanted to try on many top/bottom combinations and the woman was truly wonderful.. She never once made us feel like we were asking too much. I highly recommend David`s Bridal - at least the one in North Attleboro, MA!!!

Okay, now I understand that bad customer service happens. People have bad days etc. However, I have been to David`s Bridal for three weddings that I have been in (Portland, ME and Nashua, NH). Each time There were problems (mostly with the sales people being rude). I am now planning my own wedding and against my gut feeling I decided to go with David`s Bridal for my Bride`s Maid`s dresses. The girls had tried their dresses on and picked their styles and sizes (With very limited help from the sales people). All this information was in the computer. I had one more girl that had to be fitted before the order was placed. I called to set this up and was told that three of the four styles on the order had been discontinued weeks ago. When I asked how often this happened I was told that they discontinued randomly every Thursday and that week to week things could not be guaranteed. At this point I asked the sales person what my options were and I was told "I don`t know you should have thought about that before." As if I knew that the dresses would be discontinued. Needless to say we are going elsewhere.
I don`t expect to be treated like a princess but when it is your job to help a girl into and out of a ten pound dress, fix a train, or locate a dress within the store you do it...If they didn`t need PROFESSIONAL sales people they wouldn`t hire them...If you do work in the bridal industry TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR WORK....For crying out loud you work on Commission....It would benefit you to be kind!
If you are in the Nashua area I HIGHLY recommend Mary & Tux. My sales person was very helpful. They have BEAUTIFUL Dresses in SO MANY colors...And you get all the help you need and honest opinions from people that know what they are talking about =)

My daughter is thinking of buying her bridal dress at David`s Bridal because it is the only long sleeved dress that she has found to her liking. I have visited the Natick, MA and Danvers, MA stores several times, and every time I have been treated courteously. Of course we`ve had no experience with the alteration process, and wonder if we should have alterations done privately. Then there is the problem of not standing behind the dress if something goes wrong or falls apart. Anyone have experience with the Natick, MA store where we hope to have an appointment on Nov. 22, 2006

I went to David`s Bridal yesterday in Knoxville and was pleasantly surprised. I had every intention of making my own dress, non-traditional cotton sort of thing, and went in there for ideas and inspiration. I had absolutely no intention of actually buying a dress there. Hour and a half later, after working with the nicest girl - Shannon - I walked out with a $400 dress for which I paid $99, shoes, veil, headband, undergarment, the whole shebang. Trust me, I was surprised. I hate all things wedding-related, and really had to push myself into this store. Of course, immediately upon walking in they`re all over you trying to get you to fill out all sorts of paper work. I politely declined to fill anything out until I had a chance to look around and try on - they were cool with this. I don`t know - the whole thing was easy, Shannon was supernice and helpful. The store wasn`t crowded which I`m sure helped - I mean, a bridal store in Southern California or Chicago is going to be crowded and you`ll have to wait for help, that`s life. I think it helped that I`m not placing too much importance on my wedding or on being a bride. From the sounds of it, some brides expect to be treated like Princess Di from the day they get engaged. Their whole life is wrapped up in the success of this one day. Maybe it`s not so much that David`s Bridal is horrible, perhaps it`s that some brides have unreasonable expectations for this one ultimately not that important day in their life, and if one goofy thing goes wrong, they get completely bent out of shape. I try to put things in perspective - it`s one day, well one afternoon really, I need something cover me up, something a little nicer than what I wear to work and then it`s time to move on. But if you`re looking for a dress in the Knoxville area, I highly recommend Shannon at David`s.

My daughter ended up buying her dress at David`s in Natick, MA and we had a good experience there. She chose to have it altered by a private seamstress. I`m glad that we chose to go to David`s despite the many negative reviews we read. Their prices are great. The Natick store is wonderfully roomy. They have tons of dresses. We encountered no rude treatment. Small bridal shops have their dresses packed in tight and you probably won`t get to try on the dress of your choice in your size. It will have to be ordered. At David`s they have many dresses in many sizes. My daughter tried on the actual dress she bought and walked out with it that same day and went to our seamstress. Since my daughter lives in Atlanta, and the wedding is in Newton, MA, this worked great for us over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

I have to say I was a bit surprised when I came across this message board. I was just looking for ideas for my wedding and bam, all this negativity. I purchased my wedding gown at David`s Bridal in Duluth MN, and the service was amazing. I had the best consultant I could have asked for.
I recently moved to Eau Claire WI, and there is a new David`s Bridal there and I enjoyed working with them also. I am starting to think a lot of it has to do with location.
I wonder if anyone on this board has worked for comission in an extremely busy setting, trying to support their families. My guess is most haven`t. It is by far not an easy job and I think there is much room for compassion here.
Based on my experience at DB in Duluth, I have now become a consultant at DB. I am not defending the corporation because like ALL corporations there is a lot left to be desired. But I do not think you can base service on the corp itself, since service is definately part of personality. No matter how over worked or frustrated I feel, I am always helpful to the best of my knowledge and If I can`t be I find someone who can. I am disheartened when I read these attacks.Have we forgotten that we are all people and there is probably reasons behind every action. I find it comical how the answer always revolves around negativity--let`s spread the word and maybe no one will go there, and they`ll have to shut down, etc...etc...etc.. (Um what about WALMART, fat chance that would ever shut down) I guarantee if you came to my store or I was your consultant you would feel differently---thus my point. It`s all individual--not a whole

We have had an awful experience with David`s Bridal - we went shopping in June 06 for my daughters bridal gown - just looking at that time - the saleslady convinced my daughter through all the promotions going on to purchase her dress then - no problems, we will exchange it if it doesn`t fit next year or she changes her mind on the style. Well we got the dress in July 06 - packaged in the garment bag that they said it needed to be stored in. Put the dress in a walk in closet with nothing else in it but my daugher in law wedding dress from 3 years ago. We opened the bag this weekend to do a fit and work on the bustle button and there is MILDEW on the train - and of course David`s Bridal could only say sorry about your luck! Now mildew takes a while to show up so it had to of been wet at sometime before it made it to our house as we never took it out of the bag. They won`t take it back and basically have wiped their hands of the whole deal - so now we are stuck with a ruined dress and less than 6 weeks til the wedding.
Lesson - don`t buy from someone on commission as they will tell you anything you want to hear to make the sale - if you think it sounds too good - get it writing from the manager!

I had a completely horrible experience. I went to David`s Bridal in Hialeah, Fl. I`m a plus size girl and they basically [yea they there were about three people working in the store.] passed me by. And when they asked what sort of occassion i was there for [since it is prom season and i look fourteen] I was like "for my wedding, i need a wedding dress" she gives me the rudest look and sizes me up and down and goes we don`t have aliot of things in your size. I was so pissed because while i waited for her i looked and saw dresses and they indeed had my size. But anyways i wanted on in particular dress, which of course they didn`t have in the store, they had a size 2, 8 and 10. Thats it. She goes "if you wanna buy something today i can help you." And I was like I need to see it on i refuse to buy anyything i hadn`t seen how it fits before had. I mean its my wedding i want to look prefect. So i asked to try on a halter and she told me once again "we don`t have alot in your size" she made me sound like a whale and my sister goes can we see what you have? and she goes "how about this dress?` it was the ugliest dress in the room, i swear. Then again with the whole "we don`t have many dresses in your size" she mentioned that 50million times. I turned and stormed out, i`m really sensitive about my weight since i have this disorder and they made me feel like crap. They were all rude too me.
When i got home my mom called, spoke to the assistant manager and told them off.
She made an appointment for me at the Coral Gables, Fl location but i refuse to go at all.
I`m having my dress made by someone who`s super nice and knows how to sew. But i wanted to see how the dress would look like on me, Because it had three dresses combined and two of them happen to be at David`s Bridal. But after what i went through no thanks.
They except me to buy the dress first and then try it on so they can charge me extra on alterations. No thank you.

I got my dress at David`s Bridal, it was the last one in that style in my size. (they told me) Took it home and waited for a month before the wedding to go back at get heimed. As I was getting fitted in the dress, she was messuring the length from the bottom, that would me find on pants but my dress had designs on the bottom. I told the lady you need to take the dress from the waist (she was puzzled) but she wrote it on the piece of paper to do it that way. Two weeks before the wedding I went to go pick up my dress. They ruined it. They did not listen to me at all. They cut the design and sewed it back together. I was crying. The manager went in the back and had the same dress in my size back there. Hmmm. They had to get it done in two weeks now. I must of went back there two more times. They needed to put all the beads on my dress since they lost them and so on. Don`t like David`s Bridal. No Bride should go through what I went through.

Layla and XXXXXX whatever, I`m calling you out. Same person, same idiot who hates her life, job, and everything about herself. Stop being such a troll and go find another job and "roll with the punches" and "get over YOURSELF". You don`t have the guts to do anything but insult people that were treated like sh*t at David`s Bridal, because you are in fact, used to getting treated like sh*t because you are in fact, sh*t.
People don`t deserve to get treated like this, especially those catering to people shopping for such an important day.
Layla, you are a lowlife, whoever you are. Go back under your rock.

Wow
We shopped at 2 stores - the one in Mishawaka, IN and the sales ladieswere great. Of course when the bride is trying on a $1000 dress they were really nice. They did not have her size and the dress was discontinued, but they searched the computer and called several stores about 4 hours away and they did have her size. Of course we would have to drive there and buy it. As luck would have it we on chance stopped at the Evansville store and they had her size on the rack even marked down- after much screaming for joy we brought the dress. They never had such an easy sale.
After reading about the alteration work at DB, I will be sure my daughter goes elsewhere to have it hemmed.

I went into David`s Bridal in Okemos, MI and it was horrible. The consultant that was working was the only one working so it wasn`t her fault. She helped me for maybe 5 minutes altogether. This is my first wedding and was very excited to try on dresses but was so disappointed. I went back again during the week and got the same exact treatment. I was trying to ask questions about bridesmaids dresses, colors, sizes, and got a different answer everytime. I took my daughter in another time for her to try on dresses. We walked in the lady asks if we are registered, I told her yes, well who is your consultant...so I told her and she says well she is not here tonight so your going to have to help yourself. Which is no problem because that was what I had been doing anyway. So I am getting ready to leave that night and the lady at the counter told me that it could take up to 16 weeks for dresses and things to come in! My wedding is in 10 weeks. So I left and went to a local bridal shop where I live and it has been the best experience ever. My dress will be here in 5 days and all the girls dresses will be here in 3 weeks.
