Bridal Undergarments
Does anyone have some great suggestions for body slimmers, strapless bras, etc... I am a 36D and will be wearing a strapless dress. I really need a good strapless bra that will support me. I would also like something to slim the tummy, etc... Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you
Jennifer

It probably comes down to what you need for the type of gown you are wearing and how comfortable you are in the bra. I am about your size and the only one I have seen have a real impact is something called the "torsolette" by Dominique. Interestingly they put me in a 32DD (not my normal size) and gowns that didnt zip in the ribcage area suddenly did, and I could still breathe. But - you gotta be comfortable with the look and feel so try it out first!! Some people suggest those body briefer suits but those seem to be more supportive of waist/hips stomach than bust. I tried one on and was desperate to get it off immediately - was ugly and it just felt like a monster girdle, suffocating, and the thought of fighting with it plus slip plus gown if I needed to run to the ladies room in a hurry was enough to make me rule it out completely!
Try a shop that specializes in bras and foundation fitting - they will be more likely to know what a bra will actually do for you than some of the mall stores. Maybe even better - some gowns (Reem Acra, Wearkstatt, Moonlight Haute Couture etc) come with very serious built in support -attached inner boned foundation secured with "seatbelt" or zipper- that might do the trick which is best case - no killer bra to deal with at all so you can wear something cute underneath instead! Mention it while you are gown shopping, I have tried a couple on that felt nearly bulletproof, really! You can tell this has been a big concern of mine too :) best of luck!

We all spend too much time and money on our gowns to let stuff like bra bones or lace ruffles show through and interfere with the look!!! Some people suggest those body briefer suits but be careful - those seem to be more supportive of waist/hips/stomach than bust. I tried one on and was desperate to get it off immediately - was so ugly and it just felt like a monster girdle, suffocating, and the thought of fighting with it plus slip plus gown if I needed to run to the ladies room in a hurry was enough to make me rule it out completely! There are power slips also that might be easier to deal with but thats way more than I need and they might ride up, not a good thing.
Try a store that specializes in bras and foundation fitting - they will be more likely to know what a bra or briefer will actually do for you than some of the mall stores. Ideally one that will let you exchange :) Best of luck!
