I never heard of a sweet sixteen party where the boys must rent tuxes and the girls must spend a certain amount of money on their dresses. Just invite everyone and give an idea of what type of attire it`s going to be be. If it`s going to be a formal affair then write "formal attire". Some of the boys might come in tuxes and some might come in dark suits. Of course, you`ll always have that special few who come in something whacky! The girls will most likely come in a prom type of dress or a cocktail dress for a formal party. Just understand that this is a sweet 16 party, not a formal wedding. Your guests are not your bridesmaids and groomsmen, so nobody should be expected to pay a certain amount of money for clothing or come in specific outfits. People will wear what they want to wear, and most will come dressed appropriately if you just specify that it`s a formal party. I hope you have a great time!

There is no MESSAGE board for the Sweet 16, only for the Quince. There is a site for the Sweet 16 but no message board where she can leave her questions or concerns unless she does it under birthday but this is unlike any other birthday, this is a coming out year for a girl so she felt the need to come here. Either way, it is a great idea for the guys to wear a suit or tux only if it is formal, if not then slacks and a nice shirt is fine. I wouldn`t recomment asking a friend to spend $100`s of dollars on a party unless it is your wedding. But as said before, it is nice no matter what.

You can use the Quinceanera message board for questions regarding your Sweet 16, it`s basically the same concept!
