Is Giving The Bride A Shower Considered Your
My daughter and I are giving a shower for my niece. Is this shower our gift to her or should we purchase something from her registry?

I think I would purchase a gift in addition to hosting the shower. It doesn`t have to be a large gift nor does it have to be something from the registry.

Showers can get expensive....I would say that yes, your hosting of the shower is a generous gift. If you want to give her something small for her to open you could do that but I don`t think anything is required.

No, the shower does not count as a gift. Although it is very generous and can be very expensive, the shower is a nice gesture and an appreciated effort from the heart. But it is not a gift. But also keep in mind that wedding gifts are not required either, just another really nice gesture.

Nancy,
If you were my Aunt and you hosted my shower, I would consider that a most generous gift and would not expect another thing! I`m sure you know your niece well enough to know how she would react. If she is a spoiled self centered brat, maybe she would expect more, but honestly most brides would be grateful!
