Riu Palace Wedding
Hey I am planning a wedding at the RIU Palace in May of 2004 and would love to hear any advice you have on things to do. I have had a lot of difficulty getting in touch with the RIU and sorting things out. Please get in touch with me and we can share stories. Thanks.

Whew, this is quite an ordeal! It`s so scary to put your trust in someone you can`t meet and somewhere you`ve never been. Does anyone have any other good or bad info on other coordinators? How about the Gala resort? THANKS.

Hi Serina - my fiance and I are considering getting married at the RIU Palace in 2005 and your information has been very useful. Do you have an email for the lady you dealt with? Also, how much does it cost? Anything you could provide would be helpful - Steve

Those of you that got married in 2004 - please please can you tell me who you had been dealing with and how it went at the Riu? I had been dealing with Ana Lopez and she sent me relevant forms and info she told me that a deposit would have to be paid when I sent the forms back. I took my time in getting the forms back to them via e`mail and asked how they wanted me to pay. I rec`d an e`mail back to say Ana no longer worked their and they did not have any previous correspoence at all!! The new co-ordinators I have to deal with now are Meike, Jessi or Nora. Have any of you dealt with them? They now don`t require payment until I arrive. Their are 50 in my wedding party and I want all sorts of extras - I want it to be a big affair

Hi
I know this is all about the Riu. I was going to go the Riu Playacar and then use Weddings on the Move, but decided to go with a Palace Resort because they have free weddings - nice! And the extras are still cheaper. I am going to save about $1000. I have read a lot of wonderful things about the resorts, I am going to Aventura.

So I was just looking thru all my postings and realized I never gave out emanuelles contact information. Here is the scoop. She works with a women in the US named Mary Jane. The web page to their company is: http://www.theweddingplanner4u.com/index.html. There you can see some of the pictures and information about their company. Contact Mary Jane for prices. The pricing is very fair from what I found. Mary Jane`s e-mail is: maryjane@theweddingplanner4u.com and Emmanuelles e-mail is: emmanuellef@prodigy.net.mx. I found them to both be very responsive and they work at resorts all over. Emmanuelle actually lives in Cancun. She is very compitent and helpful. If there are any more questions please contact me. Thanks,
Serina

Hi Serina, do you have any photos you can email me and any other info that may be of use. What date was your wedding? I have booked mine at 5pm in the Garden - do you think it better to have it on the beach at that time? Do you know if Emmanuelle & co are still allowed to arrange weddings at the Riu Palace or is it purley Riu Coordinators?
Thanks

My wedding was on May 29th. Yes as far as I know Emannuelle can still do weddings at the RIU palace. Depending on the time of year you are considering I would probably move your wedding to the beach. The Gazebo is surronded by several of the resturaunts so there is generally dinner set up going on at about 5 which causes some distractions. I do have tons of picutres I am just at work so I don`t have them with me. I will try and get a web page together to post them to. In the interim I can send you a few via e-mail. The palace is beautiful. Don`t forget on your reservations to request the fountain view rooms. I think it is worth the extra money especially for you and your fiance. The beach will be deserted by 5 so your ceremoney will be semi-private. The beach set up is very pretty. They put covred chairs and tiki lamps and such. We saw a couple of weddings and it was really beautiful. There is this little grove just behind the main beach where you can have it. I think it is far enough from the ocean that everyone should be able to hear the ceremony. Hope this information is helpful. Thanks, Serina

Help! I`m so confused about where to get married - the beach or the gazebo. I keep reading the gazebo is beautiful and you get to walk down a staircase, but then i hear it`s noisy and people are setting up for dinner and vendors are setting up their art. I heard the beach is pretty and secluded at 5 p.m. (when i`m getting married) but that it can be really windy and i`ll have to take my shoes off (and i really don`t want to do that - i love the shoes i picked out!)
Can you help me? Does anyone have pictures of their wedding at the resort?
Also, is the wedding in English?
Do you know if we can write our own vows?
We`re getting kicked out of the restaurant (at the Yucatan where we have to have the dinner because our guests are staying there) at 8 p.m. What should we do then? I wanted to have dancing and speeches. I don`t want everyone to be bored at 8!
Thank you so much for helping me!

Getting married at the palace in Playa del Carmen. Has anyone seen the chapel there? Does the wedding coordinator suck that bad & does anyone recommend getting the wedding package or getting your own upgraded room & breakfast in bed?

Cancun Bridal is the wedding co-ordinators for all of Cancun RIU resorts. They are fantastic. I had my wedding done 3 years ago with a lady by the name of Maria who created the most beautiful day for me. If you can, arrange your wedding for a private beach, mine was in the open (which was nice too) although every man in speedos can be found in my wedding pics- other then the pics done by the photographer who obviously knew to cut them out.
They are fantastic though, you will not regret going this route or with this particular resort and wedding co-ordinator!!
