School Prom Decorations-Candles

Hello, my name is Erin and I am class president and in charge of designing the prom. The theme I picked was "Under The Eastern Stars." I rented a completely glass banquet hall for our prom and I plan to string red and white lights and Japanese lanterns from the ceiling.

Lighted plants and dragons are also floating around in my head. I want to use floating candles as our centerpieces. Could you offer some more advice for me?

Very cool theme idea! You may want to consider having a balloon company design a dragon out of balloons. This may be a little expensive, but very effective. There are many mylars with that theme as well- stars, dragons, etc. We carry scented floating candles in the shape on flowers for $15.00 per dozen. Make sure you use a lot of mylar material- it picks up dim lighting very well. Where are you located- I could refer you to a balloon artist in your area! www.heliumtanks.com

LeMel's candles (www.lemelcandles.stores.yahoo.com)has flower shaped, tulip shaped and star shaped candles. Many colors and scents available all with 24 hour burn time.

P.S. I love your idea. It sounds really fun and romantic.
Good luck.

Hi Erin. Your prom idea sounds so cool! Has the big night already happened? Let me know. If it hasn't, the magazine for which I work might be interested in featuring it. Thanks!

For the entrance have the bundle of ballons like what our school is doing for our Prom. Like the one's you might find at a graduation ceremony. It will definetly catch the students eye's.

My school is also planning on using floating candles in our centerpieces. We're having large glass bowls filled with water in which we'll float candles and flowers and petals. Floating flowers accent floating candles very well. Good luck, we're still looking for more ideas if you have any!

I don't know if your prom has happened or not yet, but check out www.houserice.com. They have some really nice, colorful and inexpensive paper dragons, a set of 10 hand painted fans, a paper centerpiece parasol, a small peacock design paper parasol, a set of 10 mini lights with asian style lanterns or calligraphied cylanders and some six socket light strings for your paper lanterns.

Good luck

Hey. I am also class president and planning our prom for this year. Our theme is "Shanghi Nights" which will also be an oriental theme. I have been looking for some cheap but very kewl decorations. I really like your ideas. I have a few ideas that we are going to use but it would also work for yours. We plan on trying to get some short bamboo stalks and putting them into a glass jar with red glass beads and water at the bottom, we also are planning on having an archway with lanterns hanigng from it. But I am still looking for inexpensive ideas. If you have any I would appreciate it. Thanks!
