Envelope Seals
I am looking for unique envelope seals that reflect my wedding ie; ivory/wine or a monogramed K in a wine color. But all I seem to find are the same seals on most of the websites, that really aren`t what I`m looking for..Does anybody have any other ideas or where to look?..thanks a bunch

At Target I found a monogram kit, they are seals, but they`re not adhesive ones. You basically melt the colored wax on the back of your envelopes using this kit and it leaves a nice, unique wax seal. It`s really nice, I mailed myself an envelope to see how it held up in the mailing process and it looks great! I made mines a light pink and our monogrammed L for our new last name.

The kit cost about $20 it came with enough wax for us to get 100 seals out of it. I found wax at Michael`s craft store, there`s usually a 40% off coupon in the paper that you can use. Check Michael`s website, I`m not sure if their`s a Michael`s in your area, but look for the coupon. Good luck!

My neighbor was married last year and used the wax seals. She received a very angry phone call and letter from the local postmaster regarding this. It seems that there is a high chance of the wax flaking off or being too high to go through the canceling (postmarking) machine. Because of her seals, the machine had to be repaired and everything had to be hand canceled by their employees causing quite a bit of overtime wages. Before anyone says "so What, it`s their job", it is, but it is us that pays the wages with our tax $$$. Whatever we cost them, we pay for in the end anyway.
What the postmaster suggested is if you must use the wax, do it for the inside envelope only, or make an appt. With the spervisor of the PO to have them set the time aside to hand cancel the envelopes. Also keep in mind that a large # of wax seals will melt in the summer heat which would ruin anything stacked underneath. Exspecially while the mail persons have them in their mailbags walking around during deliveries, as well as in the back in full view of the windows.
At any craft store or discount stores like wally world, you can also find a sticker maker. I have a mini one and it works great. The refills are affordable, under $5, and the machine itself is under $10. You can design and print EXACTLY what you want on your PC at home and make them yourselves.

You can get the same look as the wax seals using hot glue and it is more durable and won`t break in the mail and I don`t think that it will cause any problems for the post office. I`ve heard it is easier to work with and you can get glue sticks in all kinds of colors. I just ordered a bunch of silver glue sticks from a website ( It came to about $9 with shipping for 100 glue sticks) a couple days ago, I`ll let you know when I get them and try it out. If you want the name of the site e-mail me and i`ll let you know what it is tracijenae@hotmail.com Good luck with the seals. By the way, if you go the route of glue sticks, you can buy the monogram stamper by itself at Michael`s or most any other craft store.
