Memorial Poems

My FH and I are looking for a way to honor my Mother and his brother who are no longer with us. We found the idea of a table set up with pictures and flowers with a candle for each. Although I have seen a few different ones on websites, none of them quite fit what we are looking for. We are not religious people nor are our families so we do not want strong religious references.
Anyone have any ideas? Originally we had looked for one candle that we could include both names but none of the ones we saw had any poems, just a simple "in loving memory". We wanted something a little more personal than that. These were very important people in our lives.

Memorial Wedding Poem

Today one by one we light a candle for our family
For those who stand with us in flesh and those in spirit
Two candle will burn brighter than other candles lit.
Not for the two people being joined as one
But those who in spirit that are by their side.
Love is not from the heart but truly
From the depths of our souls it lives on when we do not
Love is happiness, even after the storm of grief
Our Light in the darkness to guide us
Loved ones are here through spirit of their love.
That light of the candle that shines bright
It is their love as they bless this union
The Light of love will burn forever
As long as they remain alive in your heart.

Thanks Angel
Where is this poem incorporated into the ceremony? Is this when we light the 2 Memorial candles? Or is each guest to have a candle for this too...
" light a candle one by one"???
Thanks again

The best time would be when you light the memorial candle. I don`t think giving all your guest a candle is necessary but maybe immediate family members on both your side.

One by one means you simultaneously light the candle for your mother as your groom lights the candle for your brother.

Well, I myself am planning a special Memorial Candle lighting for my mom and his dad at the same time we give his mom a rose. I found a fantastic website where you can create your own candle and choose everything from color to poem to putting a photo on the candle as well. This is what we are doing ourselves so here is the website.

Hope this helps you for your candle(s).

Excited Bride,

My father passed away five years ago. What I have decided to do is incorporate a picture of him into my bouquet. It will be the center with surrounding flowers. In this way, he is symbolically able to walk with me down the aisle. Just an idea for you....Best Wishes to yall.
