Family Reunion Ideas

I am helping my sister in law coordinate our fmaily reunion/xmas party for family and friends at the end of this month. We are renting a big hall and having a DJ. We are also providing a dinner for the family before the party. Do you think it sounds corny or how should I ask for contributions to help out with the cost? Also I am trying to put together a video from some family pictures. I have seen this done and think its great but am having trouble finding out where to get it done. Any suggestions would help out so much. Thank You

You may not like my response, but, I think that at this late date, it is wrong to ask for money. If some was needed, everyone should have been given a specific dollar amount and used that money to organize the events. I think that you should only accept money from people who offer, but do not ask.

That is what I meant by contributions....those who are willing to. I would not "charge" anyone......this is a family get together and them being here means more to me than any dollar amount. I was just asking for suggestions on how to let people know that.....anyway thanks for the response.

Personally I think it`s a great idea to put out a "collection plate" for those who wish to help cover costs - especially when you`re talking about FAMILY. Most would happily pitch in to help out. I just went to my son`s wedding and at the reception they played a "photo-montage" video of photos of my son and his bride from birth to current day, then photos of their time together. It was set up to repeat the length of the tape. They had theirs done by their photographer ($$$). I ALWAYS suggest people check their local high school or college as they ususally have exceptionally talented kids who would love to do a project for someone for mininal costs (usually just enough to cover actual expenses and a gratuity (or pizza out) for the kids. Larger school districts have the equipment to do that kind of stuff. Good luck and don`t stress!!
