Wedding Planning Burn-Out

Okay kids, here's the deal. I worked nearly non-stop on planning my wedding from the day we got engaged (early April) until just before Thanksgiving. Then I decided to take some time off from planning our Big Day to enjoy the holidays... Now I notice myself dreading the thought of going back to wedding planning! I would LOVE to hire a coordinator, but that is simply not in the budget, any other ideas on how I can get myself motivated again by early January?

*grumbling*

Gosh it sounds as if you really are burned out.....: ( I can't say I know what you feel like since I haven't had to truly get in and get things happening . Right now I have the luxury of "dreaming" it out and haven't had to actually see it all through yet. I am just hoping when I can get the money together that it will all go smoothly (Yeah I know its not likely...but I have to have my dreams...lol)

Anyway.......maybe you could try and round up a family member or a friend that can take some of the workload off your shoulders. And keep in mind that although you want the day "Perfect" in every way there are bound to be some problems....take it all in stride!....Have fun no matter what happens. Don't nitpick the small things.....do the best you can on the important stuff and leave the 'not so important' things for last so that if something is missed or left out it wont be something important.

And as for motivation.....I say take that break!..Enjoy it..............remember why you were excited to begin with: ) ... When the time comes to get back to "work" just sip some tea (or relaxing beverage of choice; ) ...relax...and get into the 'spirit' of the day itself. (yeah I know its easy for me to say since I am not in the middle of it all yet.; ).......

Just curious......whats the estimate on how much you have left to do?? alot of planning still....or can you see the light at the end of the tunnel??:)

Good Luck (and glad to see you posting again....I missed ya...lol)

Hi Leah,

Yeah, I'm still here!!!! haha I think that you should wait until after Christmas....enjoy your Holidays.

Once everything settles after the hectic times (fa la la la la), just put on the dress. That seems to get
Me moving. I go to my Mom's, pull it out and put it on. (I'm afraid to do that after Christmas hahaha)
I have a feeling that a may put on a few L-B's (hahaha) Be careful, I did just that the other day though,
And I had no idea that Brian came in and was on his way up the steps!!!!!! I just covered it up in time.

Wintertime may be putting you in the slumps too.....It seems to do that since the days are shorter. Just
Relax, it seems that you have alot done already. Everything will fall into place. It will be over before you
Know it.

I am in the midst of signing up for the Pre- Marriage classes (Catholic Wedding). We set our date for
June 16th. (I'm right behind ya).

Take it easy and relax.....you'll get in the mood again.

Take Care.....Happy Holidays!!!!!!!

You two are fabulous! Let's see if I can address everything that ya'll said *haha*

Keri:
Have I told you lately that you absolutely crack me up!?! "sip some tea (or relaxing beverage of choice)" *haha* You always make me smile!

Anyway, as far as getting help, that's proved to be impossible. Since we're getting married in Denver (where all my family is) it's hard to find help out here in DC. Yes, two of my bridesmaids are here with me, but honestly, they are no help and have done nothing but let me down from the get-go. They define procrastination! I cannot say, however, that while I was working on the wedding stuff I didn't enjoy it... I truly did! It's just the thought of going back to it that I don't look forward to. I did manage to get quite a bit accomplished in the time I was working, that is why I felt so comfortable taking nearly two months off from my planning.

I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel, but (even though we are sticking to the budget we set) it looks like the money will run out before that time. In addition to the horrors previously mentioned in my story (regarding my house) we have recently had to replace both our hot water heater and our refrigerator ($1,050 that came directly out of our wedding fund). I could probably finish everything that there is left to do in a month or two, if I really crack down again. I still only have half of my invitations made!

Diane:
Hey Lady! Haven't seen you around in a little while... How are you? I am most definitely enjoying my holidays! I have had very little to do with weddings since before Thanksgiving :) I do think you had a great piece of advice though! I know that whenever I put that gown on it really gets me going on the planning.I would like to one day just sit around in my wedding dress reading a good book *haha* Doesn't that sound absurd?

The problem I'm having now is I'm enjoying all of my Christmas crafts and activities. I throw in a Christmas CD and go to town...

CONGRATULATIONS on setting your date!! That is so exciting!

Thanks for the support ladies ;)

Lol..... Glad I make ya smile: )

I love to read your posts as well....between you and Diane we have had some fun 'conversations' : )
Of course there are alot of other great people who read and post here, too...but you guys seem to hang around alot ( like me...lol; ).

About Bridesmaids and their "help".....I know what you mean. Everyone I have ever known who got married told me the same thing--- that nobody would pitch in to help AND that half the time they were arguing among themselves (Gee isnt that great for YOUR special day...lol) On the other hand...I was a Maid of Honor, too and I wish I had a little more "instruction" as to what my duties entailed. I felt really lost in the whole planning thing and I wish that I had pitched in alot more....It was hard because she traveled from out of town to have her wedding where I (and her parents) lived. So we didnt get any time to just talk and stuff....

Also, I am glad to hear that you can see the light at the end of the long dark tunnel of planning..HA

Just Keep chugging along.....It will all pull together I am sure: )
