Quinceanera Questions

What is a good dance for the father/daughter dance?

What is the difference between a baltz and a waltz?

My colors are gonna be navy blue and white, any ideas?

Im probably gonna have 14 damas and 14 chambelanes, should I invite their parents?

I know that there is the changing of the shoes, any other traditions?

My theme is sort of gonna be like pachuco/gangsta. The guyz are gonna wear zoot suits, and Im gonna provide them with the dark sunglasses that they can wear during the dance and reception. Any other ideas that I can do?

Changing your flat shoes to heels by your Father shows he acknowledges you changing from a girl to a young woman. Another tradition is your Mother placing a rhinestone crown on you right after the shoe changing. I`ve seen mother`s sometimes present their daughter with a gift of a nice bracelet or watch at this time too. Another tradition is your Mother (or sponsor) presenting you with a last doll showing this is your last "toy". Sometimes the quinceanera presents a doll to a younger sister or female cousin. My older daughter`s quince color was navy blue too...it`s look nice! It`s good etiquette to invite at least the parents of your court. Depending on how well they know you, some of them might not attend, but be sure they get an invitation with an RSVP so you know how many people to expect.
Never heard of a baltz...waltz is vals in Spanish. For the dance with your Father, you might pick a song that is special to both of you. De Nina a Mujer is a really pretty kinda slow song where the Father is singing about his daughter growing from a girl to a young woman. There are Spanish and English songs; instrumental songs without words would be good..maybe salsa-type music if you don`t want it too mushy...hehe! Since your guys are wearing sunglasses, it might be cool if the girls wore them too or do something interesting like having the girls PUT the sunglasses on the guys during the choreographed dance. Email me at PJP916@aol.com if you want any other suggestions. Happy planning!

I was just at a flea market this morning that has a LOT of booths selling quince items. The accent colors on them were pink, lavendar (pale purple), gold, baby blue, red and maroon. It seems like I saw a light green too. You could look at the satin ribbons with lace attached to it and see what colors you like cuz you could add that to any accessory if you want them to match "your color" for your girls dresses or decorations and stuff. Hope that helps!
