How Do You Make A JOP Ceremony Special?
My fiancee and I opted to get married by a JOP. My mother had already brought my dress for me before we decided on a JOP. Because of to many issues with attendance, reception and all the other hoopla for a wedding ceremony which is in my opinion is for everyone else and not the bride and groom. OK, enough babbling. My question is this, how can we make the ceremony at the court house special? The judge is going to marry us in the evening on the 22nd of July. Should/could I wear my dress to the court house or is that over doing it? We cannot decorate but what else can we do to make this day special for us without going overboard on expenses?

Wear the dress!!! It`s still your special day and if you love the dress wear it. You can also carry flowers. Invite your closer friends and family.

Wear the gown! You will regret if you don`t. You can still hire a limo to take you there and home. You can read poems to each other at the ceremony. Ask if they allow a videographer and/or photographer. You can have close friends greet you as you leave, as if you left a church ceremony. Then you can have nearest and dearest over later for cake and punch at home.

I would say, get a nice bouquet from a florist. Also, get some pictures done. A bridal portrait, perhaps. Find a good photographer in your area. You could have a small party afterward at home for close friends and family only. Serve appetizers and wine. Or splurge on a bottle of champagne. Good luck!

Happybridebe,
We recently got married in May. We were married by the JOP. We had the JOP marry us in a park in the city. The park had a gazebo and statues and stuff. It was really nice. You can check out a park near you and find out if you could get married in the park.
Good luck in all you do and your wedding
