I am going through the same problems that you are. I am on a budget also. I tried searching through the Rockland Yellow pages but alot of these photographers are charging 3000 and up. I was wondering if you finally found a photographer and if you did-please supply me with some information. Thank you very much

They will locate the photographers in and around your area. It's great - I am getting my photograper for $1800, but the package deal is for the entire wedding, and about $500 worth of credit on pictures, and that will be discounted as well. He even gave us $50 worth of pictures because I found him on the web.

You want people who own their own businesses and are professionals. Ours does his business after his primary job, and is a family man. Small business owners usually won't deceive you because they hold high standards for themselves and seek your recommendation to others. Talk with them on the phone, and if you don't like their price or personality, never call again. Remember it's your money and you have to be happy with every single detail.

He was recommended to me by a co-worker who used him and when I called him I thought from what he was saying that he would be very $$ so I forgot about it (we already had seen more than 9 photogs and were sick of going through the same thing). Well my fiance made an appt. With him w/o realizing that I had already spoke to him. To make a long story short we were very pleasantly surprised ( we told him exactly what we were looking for and our budget). He has a great reputation in Rockland and has been in the business for a long time from what I hear. I have since heard from two people who know of weddings he did and had great results. His phone # is 845-368-3691(he is in Montebello Park in Suffern).
The photograher that we originally wanted to use but he was booked is Scot Calman in Stony Point - 845-429-0593 - he has done 3 of my fiance's siblings wedding and I have heard only good things about him.
From our experience stay away from:
Christophers Studio in Pearl RIver - we were ready to book him because what he showed us looked good ( although the red flag went up because he didn't have a complete book of photo - just a couple of books with highlight photos) and his price was definitely great - for both photo and video. We spoke to some people who used him and all we heard were horror stories. It was pretty scary - one girl just got her album a couple of months ago (after calling him almost everyday) and she got married 4 yrs. Ago - and she is still waiting for 2 8X10's that she has given up on. We heard two other similar stories.
Memorable Moments - their work is ok but I walked out of there after the photographer started haggling (like we were buying a car) over $50 (which he definitely would have made 10x over with reprints etc.) - if was going to be that much of a stickler over $50 then I didn't want to see what other surprises we might have with him.
