Post-wedding shower?

My husband and I were just married two weeks ago and now he has a friend that wants to give us a post-wedding shower. I though that this was just tacky, since we've already gotten married. I feel like we're just asking people for more gifts. Is this even appropriate?

The only way you could probably word the invitations would be to say it`s a house warming party.

I`ve never heard of that, but I don`t think it sounds tacky. It would be a great way for people who were unable to attend the wedding to be involved. If you feel uncomfortable, use the above suggestion - housewarming party.

Maybe you could put "your presence is gift enough"??
