Alternative to Wedding Cake

We're getting married next April and I'm not really big on cake, my honey hates cheesecake, and now we don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

This may sound crazy, but I am planning to have a cake made out of rice crispy treats and one out of finger jello. I figure my family and friends will expect the wackiness from me, and also I don`t like cake, and I really don`t know a lot of people that do. Most people take a piece to be polite then scrape off the frosting, take 2 bites and throw it away. I find it pointless to spend that much money for trash. We are doing the traditional cutting of the cake picture, but are doing it with twinkies. I think it will make hillarious photos, and shows a lot more personality then traditional cake.

How about a tower of Krispy Kreme donuts? We just got Krispy Kreme to this part of the states, and they are SO TASTY ! It is certainly unique...and I think they wouldn`t mind the publicity!

Has anyone ever done this for real?? My fiance and I are thinking about doing it and would like to hear from others who have done this or known people who have. Please let me know! Thanks!

I know this reply is too late for the original post, but I have seen the Krispy Kreme donut cake/tower done before. I saw it on the news one time and in a magazine. I think it`s a great alternative (not necessarily Krispy Kreme) to the usual cake majority of couples do.

We are doing the Krispy Kreme donut tower, We have asked for filled donuts all finished in powdered sugar.
I have a tiered cake stand (ebay $50) that doesn`t have columns between layers. I am going to arrainge them in an even layers with a fondant "doily" on top of each tier. You could even use really doilies for this. The doilies are nice because it still looks a little traditional
And you can place a decorations or a cake top on them.
