Catholic Church On Mayan Riviera

I am trying to plan my December 2004 wedding at a resort on the Mayan Riviera (resort yet to be determined).

I really want a church wedding though. Does anyone know of a nice quaint church near playa del carmen or puerto aventuras? I really want it to be nice, maybe even a historical church.

Let me know if you have any photos, recommendations or advice.

Any resort you would recommend too? Good wedding experiences? Bad ones? Let me know.

Thanks: kathpod@yahoo.ca

Katherine,

My fiancee and I are also looking for the same thing for April of next year. We are planning to get married in the same area but rather than have the ceremony at the resort, we want to get married in a nearby Catholic church. I`ll let you know what I find out in my search if you`ll do the same. Good Luck!

Hi Katherine

My fiance and I are also looking into getting married in a chuch in the Mayan, (i think my father would love for me to be married in a church). Just want to know if you had any luck with finding a chuch and what are the steps that are needed to proceed.

Thank you,
Debbie

Hello folks,

I am continuing my hunt. I have found some wedding planners that do the Catholic Wedding at a cost. (ie. 1300 USD +).

My only concern with doing that (I am willing to pay a premium for the church) is conflict with the resort wedding planner.

I have decided on the Barcelo Maya. Apparently, there is a weekly Catholic mass said on the grounds somewhere. And the priest speaks english!

This would be the most convenient option, but the Barcelo planner insists that she does NOT do Catholic weddings....

If anyone wants to look into tracking this priest and his parish down alongside my efforts, I would appreciate it. Two heads are better than one,

I do think the church wedding on the mayan riviera is possible. The only issues are, which church and at what cost.

Cheers
Katherine
