Could I Start My Pill Today?

Hi,

My wedding is in a week and due to some stress, I got my period early last month and therefore, I`m going to get my period this time on my wedding day or day after(honeymoon). I checked some sources to see when to start pills so that I could get a lighter period than a heavy one but they says to start the pill during my period, which means I should`ve taken it last month. Could I still start taking it today? Is it effective?

I would call your doctor. They will know when it is best for you to start your pill. It definately won`t be effective birth control. It takes at least a month for that. I personally don`t see what would be wrong with starting it now. I have been recommended by my doctor before to start it anytime, not just after my period, but then I have a medical condition. I don`t think that it would do you any harm. It may even cause you not to get your period. On the other hand, if you are under stress, you might not get it when you think anyway without the pill. Also, some people get really sick (as in headaches and vomitting) when they first start taking them.

Why don`t you ask your doctor? I don`t think anyone on these boards can give you medical advice.

You really need to ask your doctor about something as serious as that. Use your head.

I had read similar messages on this board regarding the same issue and many suggested pills and that`s the reason I decided to post one to see if anyone had any similar experience, side effects and etc...
And, since it takes about three months to get medical insurance from my new job, I just thought of posting my problem here.

Thanks for your help!
