I Am Having A Sponsored Wedding....Any Ideas?

Have you read anything on this website?????? Go through the message board, read all of the messages about sponsored weddings, and then ask the same question, you have just entered a war zone freeloader. Freeloaders are not welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to let you know that NO REPUTABLE vendor is going to do your wedding for FREE so that they can get FREE advertising to a bunch of people who can`t afford to pay for anything!!! If you cannot afford a wedding most likely your friends can`t either!
You will have to look for fly by night vendors with absolutley NO reputation who will be dumb enought to fall for this...and believe me, these vendors can`t afford to buy quality items to pass onto you for free..you will be getting the dregs..BAD IDEA..

If you do not get any sponsors will you still have a Sponsored Wedding? You made it sound as if you had ALL these sponsors already. Maybe a second job wedding would sound better. You will be more proud if you work for and pay for it on your own. Best wishes.

Jesus people are cranky on here.... Yes i understand that you all are paying for you own weddings. But why jump down someones throat because of what there are planning!?.... I don`t think people will do it for free ... But some of the places around here will give you a discount if you put a nice card or sign near their merchandise..... Lordy people... Lighten up!!

If your all still this crabby after your wedding you will need to find someone to sponsor your divorce!! I don`t see anything wrong with having people help out financially. GOOD LORD are you all going to send back the gifts and/or cash you receive for your wedding? I THINK NOT!!!!! We don`t plan on accepting any gifts for our wedding. I guess if your parents or other relatives wanted to help out finacially, that would be acceptable either. None of you know me or my situation so who are you to pass judgement on me??? I don`t think we are all crabby..just adamant that asking STRANGERS to pay for your wedding is WRONG..this is a far cry from accepting wedding help from our PARENTS for heaven`s sake!! Begging for freebies from strangers is akin to panhandling..period..might as well stand on the side of the freeway with a sign!

It must be nice that everyone on here is rolling in the cash. Have any of you thought that maybe some people don`t have the means to throw a wedding? I don`t know this persons story, but if they wanted to have a wedding this way then why does everyone feel the need to belittle them?.
I used to enjoy this site, and the advise that people gave was quite helpful, but after reading all the responses here.. I`m afraid to post anything about my wedding plans , in fear that if they don`t you meet with Your expectations, i will be the one being called out for asking a question.
Who made you people better then everyone else?... I just don`t get it.... I guess where i come from people are a hell of alot more polite , unlike some of the people on here.
I`m sure this will piss some off..... But thats ok.....i know that i`m happy with myself:)

Ouch! I don`t remember calling anyone nasty names, wishing their children misfortune and disease...I only remember stating I wasn`t a proponent of Sponsorships and the reasons for that opinion. It never hurts to get both sides of an idea for consideration. I would CERTAINLY NEVER wish drug addiction upon one`s children as you did, wow!!!!

Here`s a kicker. Ok, you want sponsorships - and say you get them....If you`re not incurring the expense of the wedding like all of us are - why should you get gifts? You should no longer be entitled to showers, gifts or cash gift. It didn`t cost you anything, so why should we all feel obligiated to pay for our plate - you did pay for it!
I`m going to crash all of the sponsored weddings with my friends and family - eat for free, as this is supposed to be an "advertisement" of your caterer, right... Establish if I like it or not, and leave. I will thank you before I leave, of course, take some of the business cards.... But I will not feel obligated to give you a gift nor feel bad that I came, as you did not feel bad for asking for sponsorships - so I won`t feel bad for coming to your weddings. That way the businesses that sponsored you will truly have a real advertisment - as I will now know what everything looked and tasted like. That would be considered a true advertisement - who`s with me?
So when and where is the next wedding - you can count me in!!

From ur link jevon-christina, i went through another link for another couple who had their wedding sponsored. The bride is a doctor! if doctors who make the mega bucks are begging, then what has this world turned into.......

Get over it, she is not asking you for money or to sponser her weding she is just asking for suggestions on how she can cut down her wedding cost. If i knew of places that would be willing to do that I would do it as well, If someone else wants to pay for my wedding just so I tell people i used their product/services that is fine with me. I am getting married in a month in Pismo Beach and it is hard to come up with the money. If you can find people to "sponsor" your wedding more power to you!! Everyone else get off your high horses I am sure every one out there is doing something or not doing something for their wedding that others may consider inproper etiquette. By the way cristen were in Pismo Beach is your wedding? Iam getting married there is a month. Cathy, I do not think you should expect a gift from anyone at your wedding. If the only reson you are having a wedidng is for gifts then you ahve a problem. I did not expect a bridal shower either. Of course my friends adn family ahve planned them for me but it was not expected, I do not expect my guest to pay their way to my wedding my giving me gifts!!! If these are your expectations why dont you just charge them and entry fee to your wedding, hey why dont you just charge them a little mroe than it cost your per person so you can make some profit out of it.

That`s not true, and the majority of brides on this site know it. I have heard from more and more brides that the only reason they are inviting certain people or so many to their weddings are because of the kind of gift they`re going to give. Are you going to tell me that if no one brought a gift to your wedding you wouldn`t be upset? Maybe they can`t afford a gift - but they wanted to enjoy themselves at your wedding. And why would we splurge the way that we do? None of this should be an issue - we would do it at a regular restaurant that can accomodate so many people, but most us you expect something back, that`s why you want to get the $50-$100 per person hall. Don`t try to feed us BS! So I have to say I think I agree with Cathy S.

I was - thank you Megan. Doesn`t anyone think the whole sponsorship idea has just snowballed? Everyone wants freebies now. I go to see a vendor, and literally everytime I hear a sponsorship propostion. It`s disgusting!

Make the money to afford it, or tone it down - that`s all! Give it up already!

Sorry not everyone thinks of gifts only, you may expect them but we do not. Our invitations actually say that we do not want gifts. There is nothing wrong with receiving gifts and I like to give my friends and family gifts. But you should not expect them. We think that our friends and family being out our wedding is gift enough. I hope that you receive all the gifts that you wanted on your special day but you should not expect them.
