How To Get Into Event Planning

I would contact all of the wedding event co-ordinators in your area. What are the popular places in your area that hosts events? Find out the planners they sponsor and see if you can get an assistance position with one of the most popular co-ordinators. You may also want to attend wedding trade shows. Everyone in the business is there. If you want to start your own business, get a booth and display your work.

Thanks for the info, Linda. I have somewhere to start now. :) Are there any particular classes you would recommend taking in school? I`m in my last semester of college and have a few electives available to me.

Design classes might help you. You may make some good contacts in those classes since us creative folks seem to cluster together. The classes will come in handy since room set up, balance techniques, etc. Are all part of the trade.
