Unique Or Original Wedding Favor Ideas

I`m looking for favors and reception decorations that would give our wedding a different flair. Been to too many weddings with boring or unoriginal thank you gifts - any ideas and where I might find them? Thanks!:-)

Go to Dollar Stores in your area, like Dollar General. You can find tons of stuff to use for wedding or party favors. Any cute knickknack item, wrapped up in tulle and tied with a bow, would work.

You could do origami cranes with your names & date written on them or lucky stars in small jars. There are a ton of origami sites out there that give directions and explanations.
We are doing honey sticks. I`m putting 2 sticks into long glassine envelopes (weddingtulle.com--super cheap!!) and affixing a label with our names, date, and a victor hugo quote about love & honey. I think it will be nice.
Also, I know this isn`t a favor, but at one reception I worked, the bride had taken graham crackers and written everyones names on them in icing and used them as placecards. I thought that was pretty original.
Hope this helps.

We`re doing (or going to try, anyway!) mini caramel and chocolate-dipped apples, in either cellophane or some kind of box, haven`t quite decided yet. I think pretty much any *unique* (not Jordan almonds in tulle) edible favor would be cool.

Another cool thing I`ve seen, If you or someone you know has a CD burner, are CDs of love songs or songs that are meaningful to the couple. To save money, I would make just enough for each couple/family, not every person, (unless they`re single), since most people don`t need more than one of the same CD in a household.

I found candy wrappers in one of the invitation catalogs. They`ll be personalized with our names and wedding date. Then the back is cute. It has xoxoxox for the bar code and says something about the ingredients being 100% love, honesty & committment.
Anyway, once you get them you just wrap them around regular Hersey bars.

Since my theme is fans and I will be in the Air Force when we get married, I ambuying candy molds ofboth fans and the AF emblem and making little candies and suckers out of them. As well as cookies, I found cookie cutters to match my theme! We are also doing the cd`s with our cd burner. We are going to the library and borrowing some cd`s to do it with. We are going to customize the cd`s to fit the guest taste, wouldn`t want to give grandma any Rob Zombie or anything!

Martie,
Those miniature dresses are cute. But they`re pricey. Are you doing one per couple? Also, the site doesn`t say how tall they are. Do you know?
Thanks.

I helped coordinate a wedding that the bridal party painted wine glasses (from Ikea) all different designs and that was the "favor". They were unique and the guests were "ohh" and "aww"ing over the origniality and thoughtfulness of the time spent on the glasses. Which was just one evening.

Congrats and good luck!

The mini wedding dresses sound cute, but think about how many people are actually going to want something like that. They might be okay for bridal shower favors, but I`m not sure they`d be such a hit as wedding favors. If you`re going to be spending that much money on favors, make sure you get something people will actually take with them.

Depending on how big they are I was thinking they`d be cute as a centerpiece....for the bridal shower.

Hi Dawn,
The miniature wedding dresses @ Charming Couture are 6 inches tall, it does say on the website, also, I`ve already rec`d one to see if they are worh the $$ - and it`s just beautiful. I`m going to get one for each table to incorporate in the centerpiece to be given away to the lucky guest @ each table. That way I can keep the cost down but as far as them being "pricey" I disagree - these are all handmade and you can`t buy that type of quality in any store, plus it`s totally unique - not the "cookie cutter" favor you find at these types of events. Maybe order one for yourself to see. Good luck!

We are having a outdoor garden or beach theme (still working on it), we are hiring a
Caricature artist (you know like the pictures you get at amusement parks). He will do a garden or beach backdrop with our wedding date on each one before the wedding day then at the reception he’ll go around drawing the faces of our guest into the pictures.

That sounds so cute! How much did it cost for a caricature artist? How did you find one?

I love that idea!

We just got married on Saturday and we had a cousin who likes photography take pictures of all the guests one at a time or couples together. Now we are going to send them the photo of themselves with our thank you cards. This way they have a nice picture of themselves all dressed up. I had a lot of people comment on how nice and thoughtful it was.

A cute idea I saw for outdoors type weddings was to get small bags of tranluscent paper and fill them with cherries or strawberries. This makes for beautiful color on the tables if it goes with your colors already, or else they can be on a table in the back for guests to pick up as they leave. They are also cheap if you keep the bags small and do-it-yourself.

I am thinking a favor is supposed to be something personal right? So I am thinking instead of something like candy with names and dates on it, or bubbles or something typical like that I want to find 2 figurines that represent myself and my finace`. For example, I love cats...animals in general, but in my life time I have owned 6 cats and fed numerous strays. Haha And my fiance` was obsessed with elephants as a child, so I am gonna find a cat and an elepant and tie them together with a rainbow ribbon becuase I love rainbows and on the ribbon it`ll have our names and date. Cute? I am excited. I know that it`ll be something each of my guests will just giggle at and know it`s sooooo "us" This way they get to take al ittle bit of each of us home.

DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH MONEY YOU WANT TO SPEND. FOR MY SISTER`S WEDDING I WENT TO THE CHRISTMAS TREE SHOP FOUND CRYSTAL MINI WINE HOLDER WITCH WERE VERY CHEAP 3DOLLARS EACH BROUGHT BOXES OF THE 12 WINE GLASSES FOR 10 DOLLARS AND PURCHSED MINI PERSONALIZED WINE BOTTLES. I STUCK THEM ALL IN THE WINE HOLDER WITH SOME COLOR PAPER STUFFING FROM THE DOLLAR TREE AND USED SPARKLING WHITE TULLE WITH PERSONALIZED RIBBON AND I GAVE EACH COUPLE ONE BASKET AND EACH SINGLE PERSON ONE BASKET. IT WAS VERY UNIGUE THE GUEST LOVED THEM.

I know someone who recently went to a wedding and they recieved beaded wine charms (little things to put on the stem of a wine glass to mark who`s glass is who`s), which not only is a unique favor, but also a very useful favor. While it might be pricey to go out and buy a set for every guest on your list, I would imagine you could make them rather cheaply, all you would need is to buy some wire and beads and you`ll only need wire cutters and needle nose pliars or jewelry pliars to bend the wires and then just put the beads on. Really easy to make, inexpensive, and a great gift. You could make little boxes to put them in or buy those little brown paper mache boxes at craft stores and paint them and decorate them however you wish.
