Maid-of-Honor... new to the board

Hi everyone! I am the maid of honor in my best friends wedding that is coming up next june. She does not want to hire a wedding coordinator because it is basically not in the buget. She is really interested in having a theme wedding but wants something DIFFERENT. I suggested the Cinderella story and she was not interested in that at all. What themes has everyone else used or seen?

Hi Tamara,

Have you and your friend checked out this site? If you'll look to the left there is a menu bar and "Themes" is at the very top. There are some great ideas in there ranging in themse from Fred & Daphne (From Scooby Doo) to Anthony & Cleopatra! If your friend is REALLY into going gun-ho on the idea of a theme this site is great for inspiration! Even if she decides to go with something completely different it's a start :)

This may sound a little "off the wall". How about a Christmas themed wedding. I think that would be pretty cool if done correctly. Like not too many red and green......Just a thought.

Hey ...also a costume themed wedding could be interesting...... : )

It basically should be something they are interested in......... I have heard of weddings where the traditional ceremony was by passed in favor of something Unique...such as Having a Native American Elder be the "speaker" that joins them together in MArriage... or whatever they are interested in.... Whatever their own passions in life are can be something that is brought to the wedding day itself

Oh and Welcome to the board..*smile*

I was the maid of honor in my friends wedding too..... Make sure you get all the details of what they expect of you in advance!: ) Sometimes its hard to know what to do unless it is kind of decided before hand. ALSO!! Make a list before you leave your house of what you will need to get ready (if you are getting ready at the wedding site itself)...I forgot my shoes!! Had to have my mom race all the way across town (almost a 45 minute drive) to get them. And she didn;t make it back until it was almost time for us to walk down the aisle.....in all the pre-wedding pictures I was shoeless and at least 4 inches shorter than everyone else..LOL!

Hi Keri! I told my friend about your idea and she really loved it. It turns out that she has a third or fourth cousin in Zimbabwe, Africa that is a healer and she is going to ask if she will perform a tribal ceremony for her at her wedding. She was really excited about it and is going to talk to her mom about it today!
