Anyone Wearing A Maggie Sottero Jill Or Dion?
I`m getting Married next summer (2005) and was wondering if there is anyone out there getting married before then who is wearing a Maggie Sottero Jill or Dion in a size 14-20 who would be willing or wants to sell it afterwards. I don`t have a lot of money and am looking for ways to cut costs and I thought if there`s anyone out there who has the dress for this summer and would be willing to let it go afterwards for a fair price that might help. If you fit the bill, let me know tracijenae@hotmail.com I really have my heart set on one of these dresses and will buy it new if I have to, but it would really help if I could find it used for less, thanks.

I am wearing a Maggie Sottero Dion gown for my November 6th wedding. I believe it was ordered in a size 16. My dad wants me to sell the gown after the wedding. I am five feet tall, so I was not sure whether or not I would wear heels so it would be hemmed less or if I would wear ballet slippers. How tall are you? If we could get in contact before I go for my fittings, we could decide if this is going to work out or not. I go for my first fitting next Friday, July 9th.

Hi Suza,
Thanks for the reply. I actually found an authorized dealer who would sell me the Jill for $343 new. What I was really hoping was to find someone who was going to wear either the Jill or Dion and who would be willing to be charitable, not to the point of giving it away, but being willing to sell it for a lower price than what they might be able to fetch for it. It would really help me if I could find someone who would sell their dress for $200-$300. I`d rather not tell a whole sob story, but basically my family is on a very limited income, my dad is deaf and has heart problems that make him unable to work and so he`s on social security disability, my mom`s a janitor, and I am working my way paying for college myself. The total amount I`ll end up spending on my wedding will be less than $2000, and we`re just trying to be as creative as we can to cut costs where ever and do things as cheap as possible while still making it a nice wedding. I would try looking for a cheaper dress, but it is really important to me that I feel comfortable and confident and I`ve found that other styles don`t look good on me and I`d be very self-conscious and that could ruin the whole day, so this is the only thing i`ve decided i`d be willing to go ahead and actually spend a little more on. Anyway, that`s where I stand, if after all of that you`re still interested (although, i`m not sure if it would work b/c of height differences): I`m actually about 5`6"-5`7" a little taller than most, but I wouldn`t be planning on wearing heels, actually I was thinking of the ballet slipper thing myself, too. I`m not sure if it would work with the height differences, but if you think it`s a possibility and you`re still interested, let me know. Thanks again for the reply.

I think you`re right. The height difference would be too much. I do understand the budget thing. My family will be spending about $3000 or so for the entire wedding. The church where we are getting married has a gymansium that we will be decorating and using for the reception. That might be an idea for you, too. Also, have you checked ebay for these dresses? You would possibly have to pay for alterations, but the wedding gowns like Maggie Sottero`s run around $600. Good luck!

Check out Ebay. I saw one of the designs you were looking for and also a company making amazing quality knockoffs as well. The last one went for under $100.
