Awful Seamstress!
Im going to be the maid of honor in my best friends wedding in 2 weeks. I don`t want to bring any of this up with her because she`s already so stressed out. There are 3 other bridesmaids and we all had our dresses made, they were supposed to be finished 3 weeks ago, but are only basted together right now. They were supposed to be floor length, but she cut them about 4 inches too short, and this is before hemming so they look awful. They are all too small, and she has been changing details to make it easier for her and upping the price, saying if we dont pay her what shes asking she wont give us the dresses. The price went up to $350 each last fitting because she said we were demanding so much.... I have no idea how to handle this?????
Please help...

I would talk to your friend. $350 for a bridesmaid dress seems too expensive to me. Especially if you don`t like the dress!!! I think your friend will understand. Also, the seamstress shouldn`t be charging you more because she is messing up, you should be getting money taken off of the total price. Just talk to your friend, I am sure she would do the same if the situation were flipped. Good Luck, and I hope everything turns out okay.

Wow, talk about the seamstress from hell :(
I wouldnt mention all of the problems right now to your friend if shes really stressed, but you definately have to ask about what to do with the length. My cousin had a similar problem with her seamstress, but for her wedding dress. She ended up taking it as was and finding another seamstress 3 weeks before her wedding who would finish it. She did charge quite a bit, but it turned out beautiful and it fit! And seeing as she wants to up your price, you might come out pretty close... Just a thought. Hope everything turns out!

I think its always a better idea to purchase dresses off the rack for bridesmaids or wedding gowns. With a seamstress, you just never know what the dress will turn out looking like. Even if the seamstress does her best job and tries to do it exactly like you want, it can still turn out looking different that what you had expected. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and a seamstress made our dresses; they were all four sizes too large, and because the bride had chosen a very shiny fabric - satin - we all looked like giant Christmas ornaments. If she had seen this dress on the rack at a store, no way would she have picked it out.
