Father/Daughter Songs?
I`m looking for the perfect father/daughter song...but there`s a catch. I`ll be dancing to this song with my step-dad. He`s my only father so I feel bad for calling him my step-dad. Finding the perfect song has been a little tough because he`s been in my life since I was 9 years old and a lot of the songs have things in it about being a baby with your father. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

I just read the lyrics to a Jessica Simpson song off her CD In This Skin called "you don`t have to let go". It is wonderful and I think I will use it. I think it is a great "parent" song. It never specifies mom or dad.

I just posted that on another thread last night about Jessica Simpson`s song "You don`t have to let go"...she wrote it for her Dad. It is beautiful, I wish I had heard it before my Wedding, I would have used it. It is on her "In This Skin" CD.

I heard a song last year by Luther Vandross which is very beautiful. Sorry forgot the name of it but it was something to do with "dancing with my father or last dance with my father???"

The song is dance with my father by luther vandross. It is one of my favorites, but it is about a person who has lost their father and wishing that he was alive again to share in one last dance. Not really appropriate for a step dad who is living.

There`s an amazing father/daughter song call "She Laughed" by Dana Parish (rumor has it that she danced with her dad to this song at her own wedding).

I think I`m going to dance to the song "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban. I love that song and I think it`s fitting for father/daughters. Good luck!

My first wedding, I danced with my stepdad and he had been in my life since I was 8 almost the same as you. I danced with him to." To Sir with Love" by Lu Lu. It talks about taking you from crayons to perfume, and not all the baby stuff and
Daddys little girl stuff. Alot of people at my wedding commented on how appropriate it was, you might want to check it out

I have the perfect song for you, or should I say, one I think is perfect. Brad Paisley`s "The Man He Didn`t Have To Be"! It talks about a single mom marrying and how this man she married became "the Man he didn`t have to be....the child`s father".....do you know of the song???
