How To Serve
I want to have wine and beer at my wedding my bride`s family will not pay for it so my family is. Is a keg tacky, how should we do this? Do I have someone serve it or serve yourself?

If the wedding is not a massively formal one, then yes, a keg would be appropriate. It is not only cheaper, but you no longer have to search for a server. I have been to many receptions where there were kegs. In fact, I went to a reception held in a casino ballroom, and there were kegs in each corner!! So, in my opinion, go for it!! Good luck and congratulations:)

It depends on how formal you want the wedding to be.

I agree with the others that it can depend on how formal your reception is going to be. However it`s just my opnion but spring for someone to serve. It looks better and keeps those who are underage from having easy access.

You can have a formal wedding with a keg. Just have the keg behind the bar (the guests can`t see it) and the bartender can serve it from behind the bar in nice beer glasses.
But no matter if your wedding is formal or informal, I`m begging you, there is nothing worse than looking back at your wedding pictures and seeing those red plastic beer cups or lots of beer bottles all over the place. If you`re gonna serve it yourselves and want to use inexpensive cups then at least buy the nice clear plastic ones. Just a suggestion!
