Deprovera BAD
While in college I decided to go with my college communication class on a trip to London. I was able to finance most of the trip however there wasn`t much left over to spend while I was over there. At about the same time, I noticed in an ad in my college newpaper. "Medical research...Deprovera...women...non-smokers wanted...upto 1000.00" At the time, this sounded like just the thing. I was engaged at the time and though free birth control was a great idea, plus I`d get paid at the same time.
Frankly, this one event changed my life...for the worse. I was a fit, very fit, gym and running everyday, a 1200 calorie diet, 135 pounds and a size 5. It was bliss! But three months into the injections, I started to notice some weight gain, pants were tighter, I was sluggish.
I went to the nurses at the study and said the weight gain wasn`t typical for me, that I suspected something was wrong, however the response I received was something along the lines of, "this was to be expected it will go away." I trusted them, my second mistake.
Finally, after another grueling month of people noticing my weight gain, I called it quits ot deprovera. I didn`t even call to leave the study I just stopped going.
It`s been about a two years since then. I got married at my current weight which is 150 pounds and size 10. If I`m lucky sometimes a size eight. Its been hard in other areas of life as well, I`ve always been fit, I figured skated for 8 years and have always been active. It`s been hard to see some of that disappear from view. I`m still trying to lose the weight, Low calorie diet and lots of exercise, of course it`s hard when you never see the results you want, which is the person you once were.
I guess, I go see a gyno and see what he/she advises me to do. I heard that an asprin a day keep your estrogen down..sound far fetch...but worth a shot right?
