Bit of a rut... money savers needed!
I just recently found out that my parents cannot contribute as much as previoulsy expected to our wedding. We were working on a very strict budget in the first place ($8,000) and now that has dropped to about $6,000. I know I can still have a beautiful wedding with this budget, but since I was working with $2000 more I seem to be in a bit of a rut now. We have already spent almost $5,000 on this wedding and now we only have $1,000 for his attire, air-fare to and from the wedding (Denver, we live in DC), florist, photographer/videographer and a few other things. I guess our problem lies mostly in the airfare, it will cost us no less than $500 for that alone. I'm getting a friend to act as photographer, we're skipping the videographer and DJ/Band... any ideas on how to pinch a few more pennies ladies???

Leah,
I asked a friend for the website that offers discounts on airfare. She got an excellent deal when she and her family flew to California. As soon as I get a response, I'll let you know.

Eww....sorry to hear that you have less than the "expected" amount.... Its hard (no matter what your budget is) to suddenly 'lose' money you thought was coming your way. I missed this post when you originally posted it here...but thought I would comment now anyway;)
I am at least 'Lucky' (ha!) enough to know ahead of time that I won't be getting much in the way of monetary help. My family has promised to help however they can with man power---decorations....food... etc.
I plan to do pretty much everything myself to save money. I probably will only have what we can save....(and in my life 'saving' hasn't worked out too well for me yet.....lol). I trust though that in the end it will be beautiful no matter what. All it takes is a little planning and ALOT of extra work ...and of course help from family and friends.
Good Luck figuring it out! I will keep my eyes open for ideas that may help you cut the final costs.
