Husband Or Man?

Husband and wife, definitely. That`s always bothered me, too. Then again, very few things about my wedding are going to be "traditional". I`m not being "given away", no garter toss, I`m giving my bouquet to the couple who`s been married the longest, and I`m *gasp* keeping my last name.

Even as a little girl, I remember thinking the "man and wife" thing was strange. I was like, "then when does the man become the husband?" :)

Our Pastor told us he now always pronounces "Husband & Wife" without question unless someone requests otherwise(and who would do that?) Go Pastor D!

I also find it strange when people are introduced as Mr. And Mrs. John Smith. ?!? I mean, why does the woman lose her name? Why is she all of a sudden just a missus, like it`s an afterthought or something.

You don`t have to change your name when you get married. I don`t think its necessary anyway. I know lots of women who keep their names.

Husband & Wife definitely....It’s an ongoing joke in our house that he will become Mr. Johnson which is my last name because I’m very aggressive & out spoken while on the other hand he is too passive or just kind of has that whatever attitude. But I will actually be taking his name after we are married. My mother kept her name and I hated it as a child so for my children’s sake we will all have the same name not that in this day and age it will matter to them.

Let me just say I don’t think there is anything wrong with a woman keeping her own name if she chooses (we get so touchy on this board sometime I would hate to get 15 angry reply post).
