Monograms
I was wondering what is the order of the letters in a three letter monogram? is it first, last, middle? but how does this work for a bride and groom? is it groom`s first, couple`s last, bride`s first?

Here is what my book says about it ( I am taking an at home study course to be a bridal consultant)
Let`s say Sara Thomas will marry Donald Williams (names my book used)
Six different choices are acceptable...
1. The bride can use the initials of her married name
SW
2. The bride can use her maiden initials, with the initial
Of her married last name in between them
SWT
3. The bride can use her married last name only
W
4. If the bride keeps her maiden name, she can use
The last initials of both names, seperated by a dot
T*W
5. For masculine items, the groom can use his
Last initial or both his initials
W or DW
6. On silver flatwear, the traditional monogram
Contains the first initials of both the bride and
The groom, and the initial of the groom`s last
Name
SWD
Hope this helps

I thought for a married couple you have the bride`s first name initial, then the groom`s last name in the middle, then the groom`s first name initial in the third position.
For an individual it would be first name initial, then last name initial, then middle name initial.

It is. The brides name is Sara, the groom`s is Donald and his last name is Williams...SWD Sara Williams Donald.
For the individual`s initials, I thought that as well but the book doesn`t give that.
This is just my theory... I would guess that you would use the brides first, last, middle on items not wedding related, such as graduation and birthday gifts and use the above mentioned for wedding items.

I think for an individual monogram, let`s say Sarah Ann Jones, the monogram would be SJA . The last name goes in the middle because if you notice it`s usually larger in size than the two initials beside it.
