Labor day

This may be a little late but---any ideas for a theme party for Labor Day? Something that's been tried and tested? thanks!

Laura, we're having a neighborhood block party. Everything is picnic items. We did chip in to hire a professional DJ who's even bringing dancers. We thought that was worth it to make this party a real blast. End of summer and all that. We are going to party from the late afternoon into the evening.

We did also hire a company to make big balloon arches for both ends of the street. Elaborate but not bad in cost when the whole block chips in. Of course, we'll have dance contests and karaoke, too! You should come! We did this all last year and it was TERRIFIC!

With so many good groups looking for places to play you ought to book one for a block party ANY weekend! Just talk to the neighbors and come to agreement on a couple of different types of music that would be fun. Then point out to families how much it costs to go out for an evening plus a babysitter and parking, etc. Give the same amount times a whole block of people and you can get a good band or two for a few hours each.

Check out some of the bands here at PartyPop and make some calls. Get their prices and book them before the weather gets funky.

Maybe ask them if they are playing anywhere this Labor day...then go bust the party....hee hee
